Retatrutide is a once-weekly injectable peptide developed by Eli Lilly. It is the first agent to simultaneously activate three metabolic receptors — GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon — earning it the nickname “triple G.”

Another study recorded 28.3% average weight loss observed at 80 weeks, among the strongest results reported for any injectable to date. There is also up to 82% reduction in liver fat in participants with metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).

Reduced Cardio Risk

Research suggests meaningful improvements in cardiometabolic risk factors: LDL cholesterol reduced by approximately 20%, alongside measurable improvements in blood pressure and fasting glucose.

Pain Relief

A 68-week study in adults with obesity and knee osteoarthritis showed substantial pain relief alongside weight loss, suggesting benefits that extend beyond metabolic outcomes to joint-related quality of life.

Diabetic Treatment

In type 2 diabetes patients, HbA1c improved by 2.2 percentage points over 36 weeks, with 82% of participants reaching HbA1c ?6.5% and mean weight loss of 16.9%. This indicates strong glycemic control alongside significant weight reduction.

Considerations

Retatrutide is in clinical trials across obesity, type 2 diabetes, osteoarthritis, sleep apnea, and cardiovascular and renal outcomes. It could set a new benchmark for metabolic therapy, though research is ongoing.
